Spraying perfume on the neck is something many of us do almost daily. Yet a warning posted on social media by nutritionist Hilaria Healy has sparked a heated debate about whether this habit could have health consequences.
Her recommendation is clear: avoid spraying perfume directly on the neck because the thyroid gland is located in that area —a small butterfly-shaped organ that produces hormones regulating metabolism, body temperature, heart rate, and weight—, and many fragrances contain chemical substances, such as phthalates and parabens, which are considered potential endocrine disruptors.
