With the arrival of summer and thus the holidays, it is increasingly common to see crowded beaches full of people enjoying the sun and the water. But everyone knows that one of the most typical things and that many people enjoy doing is taking along some kind of snack to enjoy while you relax lying on the sand. Although this may seem trivial, for all those who begin to dive into the world of fitness it can pose a challenge, because finding a health-friendly snack can seem difficult to locate at first.
That’s why Radu Ene, a trainer and founder of Aire Academy, revealed in an interview with THE OBJECTIVE what the best snacks are that you can bring to the beach to eat between meals, setting aside the usual bag of potato chips.
The three must-have snacks for the beach bag
When choosing what to eat between meals by the sea, the expert proposes very simple options that are easy to carry and full of nutrients. To enjoy the beach while eating healthy and tasty, he recommends including seasonal fresh fruit such as melon, watermelon, or grapes, as they are an excellent alternative that besides being healthy will help you refresh yourself. On the other hand, if you’re more into savory things there are also options like nuts in their natural form or unsalted, or the classic small sandwich, of course with whole-grain bread, filled with turkey or tuna. As Radu himself notes, “they are foods that provide energy, satisfy and prevent arriving at the beach bar with too much hunger.”
Is it bad to eat melon or watermelon at night?
For a long time now there has been a general belief that eating fruits like the melon or the watermelon at night is detrimental if you’re trying to slim down because they can cause weight gain. This leads many to think that whether at home or on vacation this snack is no longer healthy once night falls. However, Radu has taken on the task of completely debunking this myth. “It’s a very widespread myth. Neither watermelon nor melon gain weight when consumed at night. What influences body weight is the overall diet and the daily energy expenditure, not the time of day we eat a fruit,” he explains. So you can rest assured—the sugar in fruit won’t make you gain weight from eating it at night.
This clarifies that there is no reason to stop eating fruit in the summer, as they are really a a very good option. Not only for how healthy they are, but for the great hydration they can provide to the body during those months when the heat is unbearable.
