It is widely known that the renowned presenter Anne Igartiburu continues to have incredible energy and a body that many envy even at 57 years old. But all of this is not limited to the physical; the presenter herself has revealed that her mental health is also excellent and stable. Achieving such careful self-care is something that comes with effort and consistency, and as is normal many people aspire to weather the passage of time just as well. That is why the presenter has taken it upon herself to reveal her secrets and routine during an interview with Women’s Health.
Eating Early Dinner and Coffee
For Anne Igartiburu, the first meal of the day is not simply another meal to get through; she considers it a moment of connection with oneself and an investment in health. Her routine is based on intermittent fasting, a practice she performs every day. Although this practice often sparks substantial controversy, she asserts that it works well for her, so doing it poses no problems. According to her, Anne dinners very early with her children, which allows her to go through about 12 or 16 hours until the moment she eats again the following day. Additionally, the first thing she does before eating anything and finally breaking the fast is to have an infusion or a coffee. That said, she confesses to having a small, notable habit: she is extremely meticulous with the preparation of her coffee with milk, as she likes the proportion between the two ingredients to be exact and perfect.
Mid-Morning Avocado Toast
Once Anne has taken that first drink of the morning, she proceeds: «I break the fast with a coffee and I don’t have anything else until 11:00 AM, when I have an avocado toast. This approach often allows her to observe those 16 exact hours during which she does not eat any additional food.
Although Anne has established that this is a method that works quite well for her, the truth is that this is not a miracle trick that will make you lose weight. Several experts have spoken on the topic and have stated that it has both good and bad consequences. For example, personal trainer José Ruiz revealed in an interview for THE OBJECTIVE that to know whether to start doing it or not the first thing to do is listen to the body. There are people who, when they go out to train (especially when the training is light), doing it in a fasted state helps them a lot, as they feel much lighter. However, there are others for whom the opposite happens, especially when performing heavier strength exercises, as their energy drops and thus performance. That is why José Ruiz is clear: «if it feels good to you, do it; if not, there is no need».
On the other hand, nutritionist Antonio Escribano warns that spending so many hours without eating can be dangerous, since the body gets used to not receiving food and works more slowly to conserve energy; this causes that, when we resume eating, the body stores more fat and it becomes easier to gain weight in the long term.
