Are you seeking an effective laundry detergent that is affordable and respectful of your health and the environment? The consumer association 60 Millions de consommateurs recently turned its attention to the issue. Through a thorough survey, it was able to determine the best products and those to ban from your shopping list, as reported in a recent article by Femme Actuelle.
60 Million Consumers analyzed a total of 24 different laundry detergents
When you step into the supermarket’s laundry aisle, you can quickly feel overwhelmed. There are so many different types of detergents that you quickly lose track. Between detergents for black, white, or colored fabrics, and the liquid, capsule, powder, or sheet formats, it becomes difficult to make a choice.
With the aim of always enabling the French to shop in a transparent and informed way, the association 60 Millions de consommateurs looked at the best-selling laundry detergents on the market. The organization then established a ranking, from the worst to the best detergents, taking into account 24 references.
Here are the two best detergents to use at home
In its analysis, 60 Millions de consommateurs focused on the most sold detergents, namely liquids and capsules. Thus, it was able to determine the top references among major brands, eco-friendly brands, or store brands. Each detergent was tested in real-life conditions, in a washing machine with a short program at 30°C.
Result? It is store brands that claim the first two places! In the liquid detergent category, the winner is Epsil Perfect Pure Fraîcheur, from the store brand Marque Repère, carried in E.Leclerc supermarkets. Priced at only 4.60 euros, it promises optimal cleaning and an ecological footprint. Next comes another store-brand detergent in capsule form: Xéor Souffle de Fraîcheur, priced at 5.24 euros. It proves that you don’t need to purchase expensive big-brand detergents to get clean, fresh laundry!
And those to ban from your purchases according to 60 Million Consumers
The consumer association’s investigation also identified the references to avoid, either because they are too expensive and ineffective, or because they are dangerous for the skin or the environment. And you might be surprised, because these references concern only major brands!
Thus, 60 Millions de consommateurs recommends not buying the detergent X-TRA Super Croix Total 4+1, priced at 11.45 euros. It also suggests avoiding the purchase of Omo 3 in 1 Natural Essences Monoï, sold for 11.43 euros. This shows that taking care of yourself, your laundry, and the planet does not necessarily require purchasing the most expensive brands.
