The level of humidity inside the closet can be reduced by using a dehumidifier. This device draws in air loaded with moisture, traps the water, and circulates the purified air again. There are many dehumidifier models available on the market, but it is possible to make one yourself to save money. All you need to do is cut a plastic bottle in half and wrap the neck with a gauze pad, securing it with rubber bands. Then pour coarse salt into the neck. The neck is then placed as a funnel into the lower portion of the bottle. The improvised dehumidifier is ready to be placed in the closet to draw moisture from the air.
Using Gum Arabic
Gum arabic is effective in combating humidity in a closet. It is sufficient to place a small amount of it around the space. The use of an aromatic gum arabic allows for both refreshing the air and purifying the closet. It thus helps prevent mold formation without resorting to bulky solutions. Note that gum arabic is effective if the humidity is not due to a serious problem such as a water leak in the pipes.
Using Coarse Salt
Humidity can be tackled with a readily available household product: coarse salt. This substance is particularly efficient at absorbing moisture. Simply place it in small dishes and set them inside the closet. The coarse salt should be changed every two weeks.
