If you’re looking to refresh your tiled surfaces without undertaking major renovations and while keeping to a reasonable budget, floor paint is the answer.
The Renaissance of Floor Paint
Until now, floor paint hadn’t enjoyed a stellar reputation: it chipped easily, applying it was tricky, and color and finish options were quite limited. “The technical advances in this industry are such that today it’s a renovation tool you can count on. Innovations in this field now allow you to achieve painted floors that are as durable as traditional coverings like tile or resin, with a much simpler and more cost-effective application,” explains Mathilde Thébaudin, an expert at V33.
The composition of these products, depending on the brand, includes curing polymers, self-leveling resins and nanoparticles, which give this coating exceptional durability. Ultra-strong, slip-resistant, and easy to apply, floor paints come in a variety of finishes and a broad spectrum of colors, designed to suit even underfloor heating. They’re ideal on concrete, tile, wood, and metal, and they resist impacts as well as household products.
Floor Paint: Simple and Quick Application
The single-component versions are perfect for small projects — a hallway, a small office —, while the two-component variants, being more durable, are suited for floors with high traffic — a staircase, a corridor. Some paints even incorporate anti-slip and moisture-resistant particles, ideal for wet rooms.
A thorough surface preparation is essential: cleaning, degreasing, sometimes light sanding if the tile is very smooth, and the application of a bonding primer if needed. The paint is then applied with a roller or brush, in one or two coats depending on the desired finish. Surface drying is quick — under 24 hours — but full curing takes longer: plan to walk around in socks for about a week…

THE 3 STRONG POINTS of Floor Paint
1. Extreme durability: against wear, scratches, and chemicals… It thereby extends the life of your floor.
2. Easy to apply: no need to be a professional; a thorough cleaning and careful application suffice for a pristine result.
3. Economical and eco-friendly: cheaper than a new coating, it reduces waste by refurbishing the existing surface instead of replacing everything.
