This project, run by researchers at Manchester Metropolitan University, seeks to explore work-based reasons for the low take up of Shared Parental Leave (SPL) in the UK. The researchers hope to spread good practice among employers and provide a practical plan to support them in dealing with SPL requests from employees. The study will examine the process of accessing, negotiating and implementing SPL in companies. They would like to interview the following people:
-line managers who have managed an employee who has formally requested SPL or just asked for information on SPL
-HR-qualified staff who’ve been involved in implementing SPL (even in a limited way).
Their focus is on private sector employers. Interviews would last around 40-60 mins and would be completely confidential. If you would like to participate, or if you want to find out more about the research, please contact Jamie Atkinson, Senior Lecturer at MMU, on firstname.lastname@example.org.
