National managed print service provider Midshire® is poised for a gruelling virtual ‘coast-to-coast’ bike ride challenge on Friday 24th August aiming to raise over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
A company not shy of a little competition, Midshire’s Stockport office is going head to head against the company’s West Bromwich office in the 145-mile challenge on static spin bikes, generously donated by customer Life Leisure.
Guaranteed to get pulses racing, almost 50 employees will cycle 15-minute relay-style intervals until finished, with each participant raising a minimum of £15 for the British Heart Foundation.
Founded in 1961 when heart related deaths reached a staggering 300,000 in the UK per year, the Foundation funds vital research into the causes of heart and circulatory illness and their cures.
IT Sales Manager at Midshire, Stuart Carruthers says: “At some point in our lives we will be affected by or know someone affected by heart-related disease.
“That’s why it’s so important to support organisations like the British Heart Foundation, they have been responsible for some of the most ground-breaking medical discoveries of the last five decades, but their research never stops, and neither should we.”
Natalie Bunyan, Fundraising Manager at the BHF comments: “Midshire are getting really creative with this challenge. They’re a technology company, so their plan is to have video conferencing software operating on Sharp interactive BIG PAD screens at the two offices, so that staff can see each other and quite literally go head to head!”
Other plans for the day include a raffle, with prizes donated by customers and partners, and a ‘smoothie stand’, which along with delicious homemade healthy treats will be sold to help raise a little extra for the BHF.
No strangers to healthy initiatives, Midshire has always promoted wellbeing amongst employees, partnering with Life Leisure to get staff more active, and nationwide fruit delivery company Fruidel, to encourage nutritious eating.
Recently rolling out three CPR training courses to Midshire’s staff, the partnership between the two organisations goes far beyond financial; find out how you can get involved with the British Heart Foundation by visiting their website here: https://www.bhf.org.uk
