Anyone visiting Manchester law firm Clarke Willmott LLP on Thursday October 25 will be in for a shock as many of the staff will be in cycling gear as part of a fund raiser for St Ann’s Hospice.
The legal books are being pushed to one side and replaced by static bikes, kindly loaned by Pure Gym in Manchester, as a team of 40 keen fund raisers take to the saddle at 7 am to cycle 1,064 kilometres, the equivalent of visiting every one of Clarke Willmott’s offices across the country.
Emma Hamnett, partner at Clarke Willmott said: “On the first leg of the ride we are cycling the 322 kilometres to London then it down to Southampton, across to Taunton and Bristol, into Wales for Cardiff, up to Birmingham and back to Manchester, without leaving the office.
“St Ann’s Hospice provides fantastic care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses in Greater Manchester and we have adopted them as our charity for the year and want to help them in every way we can.
“By involving other offices across the country, telling them they will be receiving a virtual visit by bicycle from us we have been able to involve others in the firm nationally. Riders taking part on the day include our Chief Executive and colleagues from our national offices, clients and friends. We also hope that visitors and others in the local business community will support the event.”
The team of cyclists will be collecting donations at the offices in Spring Gardens, Manchester or they can be made online at: www.justgiving.com or by texting “CWBC55 £amount” (£5/£10/£20 etc) to 70070.
Clarke Willmott LLP is a national law firm with seven offices across the country, including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
